Hair Care Tip #2

17 May

After you finish showering, which includes shampooing and/or conditioning, rinse your hair with COLD water for around 3-5 minutes, or as long as you possibly can.

This seals the cuticles of your hair and makes it more shiny.

Review: Organix Coconut Milk Shampoo

3 May

I’m going to say what the product states it’ll do and what it actually does;

For reference, my hair is medium chest length hair with a lot of short layers. The strands are normal (not thin or thick), but overall, my hair is thick because there is a lot of it. I have bleached it 2 times and colored it numerous times, so now it is pretty dry in my bottom layers because that’s the only part that’s been processed. MY scalp is normal, but it can get dry if I over wash it or the weather’s just cold. I do have split ends.

What it claims to do (from the back label):

Why We Love It…
It’s like a trip to the tropics in a bottle.
Why You Want It…
The luxuriously creamy, foaming, hydrating formula leaves your hair feeling clean, glowing, softly scented and super soft.
What’s In It For You…
Organic coconut milk and ultra whipped egg white proteins along with weightless coconut oil to hydrate and nourish your hair as gentle cleansers wash away impurities.
What’s it in…
Organix® bottles are eco-friendly, manufactured from materials containing recycled post-consumer resin. All labels are printed utilizing environmental inks and compostable label film made from annually renewable resource corn, not from petrochemicals.

What It does for my hair& the good points:

  • It has a very good smell if you enjoy rich coconut scents. It also stays in your hair. However, after I use my conditioner, the smell is muffled since I don’t own the Organix Coconut Milk conditioner.
  • It seems to leave my hair a bit dry, but I do notice that it cleanses my hair very well, since  I use products in my hair everyday.
  • It’s also sulfate free, even though the back label doesn’t state so. The front does. That was the main reason why I bought it. Sulfates are very bad for your hair (relates back to my hair care tip post).
  • I have noticed that even though it’s drying and not moisterizing, my hair seems to be getting better. I think it’s because it doesn’t contain any sulfates.
  • HOWEVER, I have heard rumors that in their ingredients, there is an alternative ingredient much like the harmful sulfates that other shampoos use. I am not sure though, so if you want, you can research it’s ingredients.
  • It’s a bit thicker than my other shampoos, so I have to use more than usual.
  • Overall, I’d give it a 6 or 7 out of 10. It’s not the best, but it’s better than others, since it’s so organic.
